Mechanical or Plumbing Engineering

SERVICE DETAILS

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) refers to the installation of services which provide a comfortable space for the building occupants. In residential and commercial buildings, these elements are often designed by a specialized MEP engineering firms. The part of Mechanical in the overall MEP system is almost 70% of the total work.

MEP’s design is important for planning, decision-making, accurate documentation, performance- and cost-estimation, construction, and operating/maintaining the resulting facilities.

MEP specifically encompasses the in-depth design and selection of these systems, as opposed to a tradesperson simply installing equipment. In countries of Asia such as Pakistan, China and Saudi Arabia the use of MEP is increasing in building construction projects due to extreme climates in summer and winter.

The dossier provides all the documents that have been used during the mechanical completion process and have the red-line mark-ups and outstanding punches. The dossier is a record of all mechanical completion that has been completed to project specifications.

As with any systems or processes, the above can be modified depending on the project’s needs and agreements from all parties so that work can be completed as per specifications in a timely manner.

For mechanical completion to be completed successfully there needs to be constant communication between all the teams and solutions so that all work can be completed to the specifications. No matter how good the completion management system is, if the people using it don’t believe in it, the project has failed before it has started.

Successful mechanical completion leads to easier commissioning and final handover.
